The source of my inspiration this week was the work of John William Waterhouse(1849-1917). Though he is often considered a Pre-Raphaelite painter for the technique, his work is more neo-classical in theme. He paints the femme fatale of roman myths, and poems of Keats and Tennyson. His colors are striking expressions of the story of these women. The myth of Psyche and Cupid's love belongs to both the Greek and Roman Mythologies. Psyche was a human of great beauty who eventually becomes immortal after hadships and her eventual marriage to Cupid is sanctioned by Zeus.Waterhouse captures her extreme beauty, her softness, and absolute feminine charm in the softly colored tones of the painting. The rose tone is as soft as a rose petal.
